Blueprint Feature Overview

The Blueprint feature serves as a way to create a template containing details for a student's units, to streamline the entering of enrolment details.

Using a Blueprint allows admins to efficiently and accurately select units and levels, as well as allocate expected delivery dates. This can then pre-configure timelines and will ensure a more organised and timely unit development process.

The Blueprint Feature

A Blueprint is used to support quick, accurate unit and level selection, and allocate expected dates for unit delivery for an individual enrolment. They can be thought of as a 'template' for a student enrolment, allowing you to set the unit data then apply the Blueprint during the enrolment process. This data can then be used to generate consistent training plans, within the context of an individual student.

This is most useful for speeding up the enrolment process for an individual student and ensuring data accuracy for reporting.

 Note

Blueprints are particularly helpful in conjunction with the Training Plan feature, as it streamlines the creation of training plan items.

Creating a Blueprint

To create a new Blueprint, navigate to Administration → Curriculum → Program.

Find the Program that you would like to create the Blueprint for and click on it.

On the left hand side menu, click on Blueprints.

The Blueprints list page displays all available Blueprints.

If no Blueprints have been created, a message will appear, indicating there are no available records.

If Blueprints have already been created, a list of all available Blueprints will be displayed.

A new Blueprint can be created by clicking the + Add button.

This will take you to the first step of the Blueprint Wizard.

Note: If there is a minimum number of elective units set on the Program, this will also be enforced on the Blueprint.

Check the box next to each unit you would like to add to the Blueprint.

Once you have selected the desired electives, click on the Next button.

Unit Delivery

The Unit Delivery step is where you set the specific details for each unit in the Blueprint. Some of the basic unit details will be present such as code and name.

  • Hours: The nominal hours for the unit. This is set at the unit level and can be configured at Administration → Curriculum → Units.
  • Start After (days): The value entered here will be used to calculate the start date for the unit. The days are added on top of the enrolment start date to determine the start date for the unit.
  • Duration (days): The value entered here will be used to calculate the end date of the unit. The days are added on top of the unit start date to determine the end date for the unit.
  • Delivery Mode: The delivery mode for the unit.

Using a Blueprint to Enrol a Student

To apply a Blueprint to a student enrolment, ensure the student is enrolled in a course associated with a program that has Blueprints set up. Refer to this article for more information on enrolling students into a course.

Once the student is enrolled, you can apply the Blueprint to their enrolment. To do this, go to the enrolment page for the student and ensure that the Course Details tab is selected.

Scroll down to the Admin section and click on the Apply Blueprint button.

This will open a menu where you can select the Blueprint to apply to the enrolment, select the Blueprint from the dropdown menu and click on the Apply Blueprint button.

This will apply the units and associated details to the enrolment.
