TCSI (Tertiary Collection of Student Information) uses notifications to keep you informed about important issues and validations that might arise during data synchronisation. These notifications alert you to situations that can't be resolved immediately when data is submitted to TCSI and require your attention. This article will walk you through the process of enabling, retrieving, and managing TCSI notifications in your system.

Enabling TCSI Notifications
Navigate to Administration → Configuration → Preferences.
In the sidebar, go to Integration and choose Integrated Systems.
If you don't have an existing integration with TCSI, create one by following the prompts. Please note that you will need a PRODA account to link with TCSI services, check out this article for more information.
If you already have a TCSI integration set up, click on the Edit button in the integration tile.
Check the Enable Notification Retrieval checkbox and save your changes to ensure the notification retrieval feature is active.
The Earliest Creation Date for Next Notification Retrieval setting determines the timeframe from which the system will retrieve notifications from the TCSI portal.
If left blank, only notifications from within the past week will be retrieved.
You can update this date if you wish to retrieve notifications from an earlier period.
If the Show on Integrations Centre checkbox isn't enabled, it is highly recommended you do so to ensure that you can easily access TCSI notifications.
Automatic Notification Retrieval Process
The system performs a notification retrieval process at 3:00 AM every night, alongside other integration tasks.
During this process, the system fetches TCSI notification categories and stores them in the database for future reference.
Notifications are retrieved from the TCSI portal up to the specified Earliest Creation Date for Next Notification Retrieval.
When a notification related to a CHESSN (Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number) allocation is retrieved, the student's CHESSN number is automatically linked to their party profile on the VSL/FEE-HELP page.
The Batch Log keeps track of retrieved notifications and other integration activities. You can access it by going to Administration → Audit / Logs → Batch Log.
You can filter the list to show only jobs with the Type of Integration Tasks by selecting the relevant filters and clicking Search.
Manually Retrieving Notifications
If you prefer not to wait for the automatic retrieval process, you can manually fetch TCSI notifications.
Go to Administration → Audit / Logs → Batch Processes.
Select Integration Tasks and ensure the Task Type is set to Daily, click the Process button to manually initiate the retrieval.
Accessing and Managing Notifications
Once notifications are retrieved, you can view and manage them through the Integrations Centre.
Go to Administration → Audit / Logs → Integrations Centre.
Select the TCSI integration and navigate to the Notifications tab.
Notifications are displayed in a list, with the most recent ones appearing first.
Each notification includes the following details:
- Type: The record type the notification relates to.
- Entity: A hyperlink to the specific record in your system connected to the notification.
- Category: The classification of the notification.
- Text: The message detailing the issue.
- Status: Indicates the current status of the notification.
- Date Added: When TCSI added the notification.
- Due Date: Applicable for some notifications, indicates when TCSI expects resolution.
Managing Notifications
You can take actions on notifications using the provided buttons.
Clicking the Tick icon marks the notification as Actioned.
Upon actioning, two new icons appear:
- Clicking the Circular Arrow icon resets the Actioned status.
- Hovering over the Info icon displays the actioning date and the details for the user who actioned the notification.
Use the Filters button to apply various filters that help narrow down the list of notifications based on specific criteria. You can also check the Include actioned checkbox to show Actioned notifications.
